This project launched in 2025 and is using a radio telemetry to better understand the connectivity of Golden Dorado in the Rio de la Plata watershed. Data from a genetics study spearheaded by scientists at University of Massachusetts Amherst and funded by the International Game Fish Association revealed that although there is gene flow in the Rio de la Plata, there is also evidence of finer scale population structure. By using radio telemetry, this project is hoping to gain more detailed insights into the extent of movement patterns of golden dorado in the region.
